Barrier Animal Healthcare (formally Barrier Hygiene) was formed in 1989 and was the first company to specialise in a range of natural animal healthcare products especially for equine use. The products are entirely natural, non-toxic and are all plant derived from sustainable resources. The primary emphasis was on making products that work, are kind to the animal, the user and to the environment, and so the founders spent years of 'dabbling' in alternative solutions to chemicals. In the early days, our expertise was in fly repellents and we designed the very first non-toxic Natural Fly Repellent, which became an instant success.

It is generally known that natural active ingredients deteriorate quickly once exposed to UV rays and air, but Barrier Animal Healthcare have perfected the art of blending many ingredients together to give a much longer life, improved quality and effectiveness to every product. We do not include vinegar, citronella or toxic natural ingredients such as pyrethrums in any of our healthcare products.

Barrier Animal Healthcare now leads the field for providing wholly different solutions to animal health and hygiene. In the past four years we have greatly extended our product range to include an agricultural product range. All the products are suitable for use in organic farming systems and include products for cattle, sheep, poultry and pigs.
In May 2000, Barrier H was launched, our revolutionary agricultural herbicide for the control of ragwort, for which Barrier have just received a Major Commendation Award for Business Commitment to The Environment.

Overwhelming success and public demand has lead us to continue moving forward and focus our expertise, experience and understanding into a new and unique range of exciting and radically different products specifically formulated for dogs, cats and other small pets. This new cost effective and affordable range, currently comprising of eight quality products, is formulated around our highly successful range of agricultural products.
