Livestock Louse Powder
Our unique formulation of Livestock Louse Powder contains a safe-carrier that does not cause carcinogenic effects. Designed to be applied directly to all animals it is suitable for use in organic farming systems, as it falls into the exempt category of products which use only plant oils as active ingredients, as listed in Annexe IIB (Pesticides) of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2092/91 (as amended). It successfully rids animals, including Cattle, Horses, Goats, Rabbits and other small pets of both Sucking and Biting Lice; which are normally dealt with separately, and will help to prevent reduced growth rates, which can result from Lice infestation. Fully HSE Approved - Licence No. 8712.: Full HSE Approval - Licence No 8712. In accordance with the Biocidal Products Directive, regulations require any product which holds itself out as any form of repellent to secure an approval and licence number from the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). This approval requires the active ingredient (Ai) to be listed on the label together with the amount of Ai being used. Barrier Animal Healthcare secured the necessary approval and the licence number 8712 for this product. Uses: Can be used as a protection against or where there is existing infestation. Suitable for most animals: Barrier Animal Healthcare's Livestock Louse Powder can be applied to most animals including Cattle,Horses, Goats, Rabbits and other smaller pets that are over 7 days old. It can be used on both Sucking and Biting Lice. It works at repelling the Lice over a six week period. Not suitable for to use on Pigs because there is not enough hair to hold the powder. Not suitable to use on Birds because the powder will not hold in feathers. Identification: Lice can usually be found on the neck, shoulders, along the spine and under the base of the tail, however, the entire body can be affected in heavy infestations.
Slow Release Formulation: This strong formulation contains concentrated plant derivatives that act as a slow release to give up to six weeks protection with one application, depending on weather conditions. Barrier Animal Healthcare is the only company to include sterilizable maize powder as the base carrier for the louse powder and unlike other carriers it will not be metabolised via cuts and grazes and so will not form granulomas. Lice affecting Horses: There are only three types of lice that seem to affect horses. One is the Sucking Louse - Haematopinus asini, which can usually be found around the base of the mane and tail. The other two species are Biting lice and closely related - pilosus and Damalinia equi. All of them cause poorness of condition, itching and loss of hair. Lice affecting Cattle: In cattle the sucking lice mainly affect the head and shoulders. Species associated with cattle are Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus, H. tuberculatus. In addition one species of biting lice Damalinia bovis occurs and can affect the whole body. Cost Effective: Barrier Animal Healthcare’s Livestock Louse Powder is very cost effective and the most environmentally friendly product of its kind for by the animal and the user. Directions for use: After identifying that lice is the problem. Thoroughly cover the animal with the product, paying particular attention to the neck, under the elbows, legs, along the back and at the base of the tail. Use a soft brush to ensure that the product is thoroughly worked into the coat and down to the base of the hair.
Staying Power: Livestock Louse Powder can last for up to six weeks but reapplication may be necessary where wet weather conditions apply. FEI & HRA Rules: No materials have knowingly been included in this product that may contravene current rules. Safety: Livestock Louse Powder contains Sterlizable Maize as the base carrier. Unlike other carriers, it will not be metabolised via cuts and abrasions, scabs, grazes, dry and flaky skin and so form granulomas. Storage : Always ensure that the cap is tightly closed after use.
